Designers

Types of Eyewear

We also provide specialty frames for reading, sunglasses, sport and specific applications.

Prescription Safety Frame Testing

Regular dress frames or streetwear do not meet OSHA requirements for safety. Our prescription safety frames are tested with 2.0mm polycarbonate to ensure they can withstand the impact from a 1/4” steel ball traveling at 150 fps without dislodging the lenses. All parts of our safety frames are marked with Z87-2, indicating that they have been tested to withstand high impact.

Types of Safety Glasses

Whatever your application, Hi-Tech Optical can provide the type of safety eyewear you need!

What type of eyewear do you need?

Does the cold weather or other factors cause your glasses or goggles to “fog up?”

When temperature change and humidity increases, lens fogging can be a frustrating and potentially dangerous issue. Not only will you visibility be reduced, but you might be tempted to take off the safety eyewear to rub away the “fog.” These few seconds of protection loss will expose your eyes to potential danger.

To alleviate this issue, we offer anti fog safety glasses and anti fog safety goggles to keep your vision clean and clear!

In various lab and enivornmental settings, safety goggles need to be worn (rather than safety glasses) to protect eyes from liquids and flying objects. For example, in a lab, there are many harmful chemicals in liquid or particle form that could splash or fall onto skin and eyes. For emergency services and some types of construction, the goggles help protect the eyes from broken glass and other shrapnel that could occur due to small explosions.

There are many styles and types of prescription safety goggles available, including bifocal goggles and prescription water goggles, among others.

Laser eye protection is important for protecting your eyes from dangerous laser radiation in any laser-using environment. Lasers and reflected laser beams can cause serious eye damage. Laser safety glasses filter out the wavelengths from lasers, including ultraviolet, visible and infrared. Whether you or your workers are in industrial, military, telecommunications, medical, R&D or specialty markets, it is paramount to have laser eyewear if lasers are being used in the immediate area.

Hi-Tech Optical provides laser safety glasses and goggles from the best brands in the industry in a variety of styles to offer top-notch technology, comfort and wearability.

Keep your visitors safe with non-prescription, visitor safety glasses and dispensers. Hi-Tech Optical offers economical visitor safety glasses that fit over most prescription glasses and offer protection that meets ANSI Z87 standards.

Safety Prescription Transitions Sunglasses

Safety prescription sunglasses are widely used for those who work or play outdoors because they provide great eye protection from both projectiles and light. We offer many styles, including transitions safety glasses, polarized sunglasses, and tinted safety glasses. Below is a description of the differences between these options.

Transitions Safety Glasses

Transitions safety glasses have a transition lens that lightens and darkens with the outdoor lighting conditions. This empowers the user with only needing one pair of safety glasses for indoor and outdoor use and eliminates the need to switch glasses to accommodate the lighting conditions. The lenses in transitions safety glasses respond to the ultraviolet light and change from clear to dark in a few seconds.

Using polycarbonate lenses in a proper safety frame will result in safer, stronger, and more shatter-resistant sunglass lenses and frames to provide superior safety and comfort.

Polarized Safety Sunglasses

Polarized sunglasses help reduce eye stress and fatigue from excessive glare. For outdoor activities like driving, fishing, boating, construction and others, polarized safety sunglasses reduce the glare and empower the user with greater visibility and clarity. The polarized sunglass lenses filter out the UV-rays from reflections from water, vehicles, paint or other reflective materials that can cause blinding visibility.

Tinted Safety Glasses

Tinted safety glasses have tinted lenses to help improve visibility both indoors and outdoors. They are especially helpful for those with eye problems or eye sensitivity. A simple tint in the lenses of safety glasses will improve visibility in most cases.

Motorcycle goggles and prescription motorcycle goggles have made vast improvements in style, comfort and durability. Motorcycle goggles now include transition lenses for varying light conditions, and foam eyecups for protection from fine dust particles, among others. Finding the right fit with your motorcycle goggles can make riding even more enjoyable and safe!

A prescription safety respirator is worn over both the mouth and nose to protect from occupational and/or environmental hazards (i.e. airborne particles and gasses). With a respirator, you either breathe through a filter or there is a limited-time source of clean air that is provided.

Workers in law enforcement, building, chemical engineering, painting, and other occupations often need a prescription safety respirator to protect them from the particles and gases.

We offer many different styles of respirators with varying functionalities to meet your unique needs.

Need to read or see small details with your safety glasses on? Bifocal safety glasses might be the answer!

Whether you call them reading spectacles, magnified eyewear, or bifocals, we can help you protect your eyes and see the fine details with prescription bifocal safety glasses!
