Optical Definitions

Solder– To melt the metal frame together to fix a break in the frame.

Grind Down– To grind a lens down to that it will fit into a frame.

Transition Lenses– A special lens that darkens when exposed to sunlight, to help protect your eyes.

Anti-Reflective Coating– A special coating that is applied to the lense to reduce the reflection in the lense.

Single Vision Lense– A lense with only one prescription.

Bi-Focal Lens– A lens that has two different prescriptions within the one lens.

Tri-Focal Lense– A lens that has three different prescriptions within one lens.

Progressive Lense– A lens that has three different prescriptions within one lens, but the three different prescriptions are blended seamlessly within the lens.

Computer Lense– A special lens that aids in blocking harmful Blue Light from your eyes.

Abb Value– Measures the dispersion of the wavelengths coming through the lens. The higher the Abb Value, the clearer the vision.
